Sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) is recognized by many global societies, including the World Health Organization as a viable way to treat allergies without injections. This method has been used in clinical practice and tested in research studies for the last 30 years — several trials confirm the safety and efficacy of this treatment. Sublingual immunotherapy has also been growing in the US over the past decade. A survey sent to allergists in 2018 showed that 74% use SLIT treatment compared to 6% in 2007.
